California Bill AB2109

Any other Californians out there??
This info is for you!
Next Tuesday April 17th @ 1:30 at the State Capitol there will be a hearing regarding bill AB2109.
Heard of it??
If implemented, this bill would require a doctors signature on the vaccine exemption form when enrolling a child into school.

Doesn't sound like a HUGE deal right?
WRONG!
What happens when your doctors personal opinions on vaccines don't match yours?
What happens when your child's doctor decides NOT to sign this form?
What happens to our freedom to make an informed decision on our own?
Our freedom to choose?
Our freedom to raise our kids how we see fit?

See what I am saying?  It is just the beginning!
The beginning of the government regulating what goes into our children's bodies and the beginning of the government overruling our rights as parents.

Regardless if you fully, delay, partial or don't vaccinate your children, this is important to you.  It is not just about vaccinations, it is about our freedom to choose and freedom to parent.
If this passes, what will come next?

If you want more information on the bill you can read about it:

If you are interested in doing something about this, please come to the hearing on the 17th to show your opposition.

Our Busy Week!

I have been MIA from the blog this week.
That's because we have been BUSY!

Monday
We had a Valentines playdate to attend, so we woke up early to get together our treats.
Although we usually don't have candy in the house, I made an exception because the kids were able to do this all on their own.

Opening the Hugs

All ready to assemble.

Assembling

Just being cute!

Melted the Hugs in the oven and then pressed in the M&M's

Packing up the goody bags.

We also made sugar cookies this morning to take for decorating at the playdate.
We had SO much fun this day, we ended up meeting some new friend and spent 4 hours there.
The kids passed out on the way home, woke up for dinner and then back to bed.

Tuesday (V-Day)
Daddy was off to work early, so the kids and I spent the day just loving on each other.
We started off the morning with waffles with strawberries and whipped cream.

Did a little school work, then took a trip to the Dollar store for school supplies (I can't wait to share what we have been working on!)
The kids were begging me to take them out to lunch, so I gave in and we got a sandwich and apples to share.
Then a surprise trip to the park!  Which was definitely the highlight of the day.
Baby C learned to climb up the structure and then slide down the slide...

Home we came for naps.  And again the kids woke up to eat and then were back to bed.
Tired babes!

Wednesday
Was our first day with our new chore chart.

The kids were given their chore chart on V-Day, but we didn't have time to work on them.  So today we did!
I got the idea and print out from Confessions of a Homeschooler... she has such amazing ideas, I love her blog.
Anyways, the kids did great.  They are very excited to have goals for the day and enjoy helping the family.  We have been at it for a few days now and I haven't had to ask them to do anything.  They wake up and know what to take care of by looking at the chart.  Simply Amazing!

We spent the rest of the day doing school and lots of reading... As I stated before, we had a busy couple days and this was our recharge day.

In the evening, Daddy and I got to go on a date!  We had a fast dinner of sushi and then had a parent info night at a charter school we were potentially going to use.  After the meeting we decided we don't think that particular one is for us, BUT it gave us lots of good information on what we ARE looking for:)  We have a few more months before we have to make a decision, so until then we are doing more research and lots of praying for guidance as to what is best for our family's homeschool needs.

Thursday
Every other week we have a chiropractor appointment for Buddy Boy.  We were going 3x a week for a month and then once a week and now every two weeks.
He is doing SO much better!
Since we started our alternative treatments with him, Buddy Boy has had one asthma attack/cold in late January.  BUT the asthma attack was mild and lasted less then 12 hours (which is crazy considering before he was having severe attacks for 24 hours and then mild for up to 4 days).  Then his cold lasted 2 days (also crazy, because before IF we could get him better it would take 2 weeks!) Since then he has been healthy, so here is to hoping we are finding a good solution for him.

Our appointment was at 8:30, so we skipped breakfast and went in for a quick adjustment.
Then we went to a local diner (which was featured on Diners, Drive Ins & Dives) for banana cinnamon pancakes and hot-cocoa.
~Eating out like this is not normal, but we had other things to do in town and I was killing time~
Still having more time to kill, we vacuumed out the mini-van and went through the car wash (always exciting)
Finally, it was storytime!
We go weekly to storytime at the library.  While the kids are participating, I usually look around.  But I do most of our library lending online and they have it ready for me to pick up when I get there:)
Home for lunch.
Then we picked up Yammie and headed to Goodwill for some thrifting.  I found Bubba Love a new dress AND a new doll house!  Her old doll house was broken and we promised her she would get a new one for her b-day... but for $4, I couldn't resist!
Did a Costco run and then headed back to Yammie's for dinner since Daddy was working late.
Kids were asleep on the way home.

Friday
We tried a playgroup that was run by a local town and while the kids enjoyed it, Bubba Love & Buddy Boy were the oldest there.  So I am not sure if we will be going back.
Then we came home to play and do some yard work.  Of course the kids had to play in the water!

Beautiful day!

It has been a busy week.  With lots of school work that I haven't even mentioned!  That will be a later post:)
We are so blessed and I am really loving were we are right now in our lives.  It is crazy at times, but these moments are amazing and I know I will cherish them forever!

Update On Buddy Boy's Health

After Buddy Boy's surgery in May, he continued to have issues.  Not quite the same issues, but still Ear Nose & Throat issues.  He started snoring a lot and holding his breath in his sleep.
He also continued to have his monthly asthma episodes that landed him in the hospital 2 times this year!

So in November, he went in for another surgery.  This time to get his tonsils removed.  The ENT doctor said that this would help with everything and we would see an immediate difference.
Well after the surgery and recovery, you know what we saw??  NO change.  In fact he got sick 10 days after surgery and didn't get better until almost a month later.  So the ENT sent us off the an allergist and respiratory specialist.

Specialist my a**... ok wait, I am getting ahead of myself!

We made the appointment to see the specialist and were told to plan to be there for at least three hours to do the allergy testing and to go over a plan of action.
We got there and the doctor spent about 5 min with us, just asking questions and ignoring what I was telling him.  If it wasn't in the chart, then he didn't care to hear about it.  Awesome.
Then in comes the nurse and she does the "prick" allergy testing for the top 10 food allergies along with the normal airborne allergies.  Everything came back negative.
So without anymore discussion, the doctor returns with his pad of prescriptions.  He gives us 5.
He goes and the nurse comes back to explain how to use all 5 of these.

I head home with a yucky feeling.  I was trying to process the whole thing, but the appointment went a completely different direction then I thought it was going and I was completely lost.

So we got the prescriptions and then came the jaw dropping reality of what this doctor was doing.
He was pushing pills onto my 3 year old without really having any reason to!
I did some research and out of the 5... two prescriptions were the same thing, just different brands. One he was not old enough to take.  And one was an allergy med, but we just ruled out all the allergies.

Needless to say, I was MAD.
And completely lost as to what to do.  I thought he would have answers.
Now what??

I slept on it for a night and woke up to an epiphany if you will.
My question to myself was... If I don't take the kids or myself to the doctor for anything (including childbirth), why am I taking Buddy Boy to the doctor for these issues?
Are they too big for alternative medicine to fix?
Why haven't I given them a try?

In the trash the prescriptions went and off to the natural food store we headed.
We loaded up on what my kids should have been on anyways.
Daily Vitamin
Probiotics
DHA
Vit-C
Vit-D3(helps with asthma)

Then off we went to the chiropractor.  He has been amazing with Buddy Boy!  We have been seeing him 3 times a week until he is comfortable with Buddy Boy's progress and then we will see him routinely.

This all happened two weeks ago and you know what.  Buddy Boy is doing the BEST he has done in a long time.  He is sleeping better and is in a better mood (most of the time).
He also was headed into an asthma episode the first time we saw the chiropractor but it never kicked in!
He has yet to get the cold that the entire family currently has... which is almost unheard of!  He is the one that get sick while the rest of us are well.

It hasn't been long enough to say that this is the fix.  But I am hopeful that this is the start of a healthy boy.  I feel bad for putting him through what he has gone through so far, but I am glad I was finally pushed to the edge and looked for an alternative.
