7 Things... About My Home birth Babies

Besides being born at home, my home birth babies have a few other things in common...

1. They hate their baths... Even the one born in the tub!
2. Cloth diapers give them the worst rashes.
3. They love falling asleep on Daddy.
4. They hate sleeping in a crib.
5. They play with my hair when they are sleepy or hurt.
6. They can't wait to catch up with their older brother and sister.
7. They came into this world in the most peaceful and natural way:)

If you haven't already, you can read their birth stories here and here.

7 Things... Baby C Says

Two year olds are so stinkin' cute!
They think they are so grown up, yet they are trying to figure it all out.

When Baby C turned two, he started talking. He has his own little way of getting things across to us and while most of what he says is right on, he has a few words he had made up along the way that he is unwilling to change:)

I don't want to forget these words in 6 months... So here they are!!

1. Duby Duby, Dupe Dupe (chuga chuga, choo choo)
2. Cookie (thank you)
3. YaEe (Zane)
4. Sisses (Jaden)
5. Wa (water)
6. NaNa (all done)
7. Everything in a Brooklyn accent, hehe!

Here he is singing a lullaby to Sugar, our new bunny:)
I love this kid!!

7 Things... About Bed Sharing & Co-Sleeping

Having my babies sleep with me was never a question.  It seemed like the natural thing to do.  Before Bubba Love was born, I had a few reasons why I wanted to bed share/co-sleep.  The main reason was that I just wanted to have my baby close to me.  But when she was born and began sleeping with us, I realized there are far more reasons to sleep with your babies.

Having your baby skin to skin (or pretty close to) helps promote milk production.

Babies who are close to their mama, thrive better because they have unlimited access to on demand feeding.

Your closeness to the baby promotes rhythmical breathing, which is believed to reduce SIDS.

Bed sharing promotes bonding, which promotes higher self-esteem, which promotes independence.
(YES!, "babying" your baby makes them more independent)

Survival.  You and your baby get more productive sleep.

You naturally sync your sleeping patterns with your baby, waking around the same time for nursing but neither coming to full consciousness.

Sweet snuggles, smiles and kisses when you open your eyes in the morning.

5. All the kids took a nap at the same time for 2.5hrs!

7 Things I Love...

About being a Northern California Girl (born and raised)

1. 70 degree's and sunny in mid-January & Feburary.

2. One hour drive to the beach (surfing) or the mountians (snowboarding).

3. Amazing wines! I am lucky enough to live right in the middle of 3 huge vineyard destinations.

4. Booming agriculture. California (central and northern) produces most of the countries domestic produce, and is the leader in organics.

5. National Parks. Yosemite, Seqouia, Redwood, and Point Reyes.... just to name a few!

6. Home births are legal. California is one of the few states that has no restictions on home birth, and both CPM and CNM are legal.

7. We say "hella". Haha! Enough said:)

There are a lot of things that suck about Cali also, but I love it here! I am surrounded by beauty. This is a picture taken today in my yard. Yes, it is the beginning of March and my bulbs are already bloomed!!!
